Zeiss and Moody Blue

There is a man in Sweden who loves Elvis Presley. His life runs around every little thing related to Elvis, with respect and love.

It all started with his parents, a young German man and a Russian woman living in the USA, who met and fell in love during a trip to Graceland. Their children lived in a house filled with music, but it was the greatness of Elvis that had the huge impact on their little son, Matt.

When Matt became Matthew, the same love for Elvis connected him with a Swedish woman. A year of online love resulted in marriage. Matthew left American life and settled in Sweden. He founded a band of talented Swedish musicians - ZEISS and The TCE Band and they together perform Elvis Presley's music.

A great achievement of Zeiss and The TCE Band was winning first place in the music competition during the European Elvis Festival in Bad Nauheim, Germany in August 2023.
As a result, they were invited again to a concert in Bad Nauheim on August 16, 2024.

Matthew Zeiss sings well-known Elvis classics, songs rarely performed by other artists and songs that Elvis planned to record but never did. We can only imagine now what beautiful songs he would sing for us if he had the chance to live longer.
Matthew Zeiss thought long and hard about the songs The King didn't sing until he finally decided to do something no other singer in the world had ever done before.

Here's what Matthew Zeiss says about realizing his dream and recording an album Moody Blue with Elvis Presley unsung songs:

"Before Moody Blue was released in June 1977, it was intended as a very different album. A series of energetic and dynamic demos had been chosen to record, but many were left unrecorded, as Elvis didn't often feel interested in recording. When six of the intended songs fell by the waste side, producers were forced to fill the album with overdubs on live performances recorded in previous years.
The issue for me was always that even the six studio recordings he actually did record for the album lacked enthusiasm; it is very clear to me that you can actually hear his lack of desire to record this album; The spark had sadly gone away.
So, when it came to my attention that the original demos were readily available to listen to on a CD titled "A Cold Night In Nashville", I had to hear what was intended to be recorded.
After thoroughly listening, I was flooded with disappointment at the great songs Elvis never laid down in the studio; it then became a mission of mine to redo the Moody Blue album how it should have been. To create an imaginary place in time where Elvis took a year off to gain his health back, rid himself of all anchors in life, and put out a big smash album to knock people off their feet like he did in 1969 with "From Elvis In Memphis".
I specifically designed the cover art to emulate the style of artist Drew Struzan, who created exciting movie posters of the era such as 1977's Star Wars, and others like Indiana Jones, Blade Runner, Back To The Future etc. It's my belief that had RCA put a little more care into Elvis's cover art, his music could have been introduced to a lot of the younger generations of the era. At a time when an album like Hotel California was top of the line, Elvis would have needed to pull out all the stops to remain contemporary but while keeping his integrity and style.

Along with my group, The TCE Band, we dedicated ourselves to creating a true authentic representation of what we believe the album should have sounded like in the first place. It was not necessarily about duplicating a specific sound, as much as it was about creating a very specific energy. The magic that is Elvis and The TCB Band, was the authenticity in their playing, the high energy and spirit to perform and create greatness at the highest echelon; So that's what we aimed to do.
The album was released to order physically on CD on January 8th, 2024. With a special early debut and signing at our concert January 5th at Varberg Teater in Sweden."
